The Wende Museum is all about change — the things that humanity endured and survived, and change in the world, in our own lives. The museum is headquartered in a former National Guard Armory in Culver City, California with a secured off-site storage facility in El Monte, California, filled with thousands of unopened boxes from people around the world who have sent things they loved, or they hated, sometimes with notes enclosed and sometimes anonymously. When you open a box, you never know what you’re going to get. Sometimes, it’s junk and the museum throws it away, and other times, it immediately goes on display in the main gallery and will be with the museum forever, saved for all time for present and future generations.
